Our Story
Maya Restaurant & Bar was founded on the principles of family, community, and a passion for good food and drink. Our team of experienced chefs, led by chef-owner Peter Castiglione, has over 20 years of combined experience in the culinary industry. Our kitchen is dedicated to using only the freshest ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible, to create a menu that is both familiar and innovative. From classic Southern dishes to modern twists on traditional favorites, our menu is designed to please even the most discerning palate.
Our Services
At Maya Restaurant & Bar, we offer a range of services to meet your dining needs. Our restaurant can accommodate up to 60 guests in our outdoor patio, and our upstairs dining room can seat up to 40 guests. We also offer private event spaces, including the bar-lounge, which can seat up to 30 guests.

Meet Our Team
Our team of chefs, led by chef-partner Bryan Jernigan, has over 20 years of combined experience in Maya's kitchen. Chef Jernigan, along with chefs Zach SchLatter and Joshua Moore, work tirelessly to create innovative dishes that are both familiar and exciting. Our bartenders, led by award-winning mixologist Ted Norris, are passionate about crafting unique cocktails that will refresh and delight. And our team of staff, led by general manager Al Suttmeier, is dedicated to delivering exceptional service that will make you feel welcome and at home.
Getting Here
Maya Restaurant & Bar is located in the heart of Mid-Town Charlottesville, just steps away from the Historic Downtown Mall and the University of Virginia. We're easily accessible by car or public transportation, and there is ample parking available nearby.
Opening Hours
We're open Monday through Saturday from 4:30 pm to 9:00 pm, with the bar open until midnight on Tuesdays through Saturdays. We're closed on Sundays, but we encourage you to join us for our brunch service or private events on the weekends.
