At Dan's Place, we are committed to providing top-notch barber services in a family-friendly environment. Our mission is simple: to offer quality services at an affordable price. We have recently relocated to the Prospect Business District in Longmont, CO, and we are excited to serve the local community.

Dan, the master barber, has been cutting hair since 2004 in Boulder County. It's a family tradition that dates back four generations. His great-grandfather had a barbershop in downtown Denver in the late 1800s, and his mom, aunts, uncles, and cousins have all taken on the talent as master barbers throughout the Denver Metro area over the years.

Our History

Originally named Coal Creek Barbers, the barbershop was founded by Roger Nairn over three decades ago. It was first located in the Coal Creek Shopping area of Lafayette, CO, until Roger bought a building that was originally a restaurant, owned by the family of The Blue Parrot, on South Public Road. This is where Coal Creek Barbers made its name known in the town of Lafayette.

Roger Nairn passed away on September 29, 2006. Peter, Danny, and Jamie Martin bought the shop from his family in December of 2006. Dan had come to work for Roger with the intention of buying the shop from Roger when he retired. Unfortunately, life does not always go as planned. We have been happy to have served the residents of Lafayette and the surrounding area for 14 years. We were given the honor of Best of East Boulder County three years in a row from 2014 to 2016. We would like to thank every one of our clients for supporting us through all these years.

We had a good run in Lafayette, but life never stays the same. As of August 6, 2019, Coal Creek Barbers is now known as Dan's Place, located in Longmont in the Business District of Prospect. We look forward to serving many of our loyal clients and also meeting some new ones!

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a wait time? Please be aware that there may be a small wait time. Dan does his best to keep with everyone's appointment time. He does not turn people away if they are late, and he does not ask for credit cards ahead of time so that he can charge for no shows. Please do your best to show up on time and be courteous to other clients.

Why are this week's dates not available on the booking system? Appointments are typically available two to three weeks out, but we do have occasional openings when people cancel. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are currently not doing any kind of waiting list due to the quick turnover in appointments being booked.

What if the shop has to close? In the event that the shop has to be closed and you have an appointment that day, you will be contacted to let you know that we had to close the shop via email and/or text.

Can more than one person have their haircut during an appointment slot? One slot is slated for one person only. Each person needing a haircut needs to create a separate appointment. For families, you can use the same account - you just need to change the name when creating the appointment.

Why do I need to make an account? A free user account is required so that each client has the ability to go back into the system to update/delete appointments, see when you have your appointment if you forgot when it was, and guarantee an email confirmation.

How do I use the online booking system? First, log in. You must click on a service choice to see the open slots on the schedule. The first ten available appointments will be listed. Please note that the date is accurate. We are usually booked from two to three weeks out. If those appointments are not suitable for you, please keep checking back as openings may become available.
