As a student at UC Davis, I studied photography, among other things, and earned degrees in both art and literature. Although I loved photography, I never thought I would pursue a career in it. However, during my time abroad as a student and then as a teacher, I realized the immense importance of photographs of loved ones and ourselves. I learned that photographs have the power to comfort us, to bring us joy, and to remind us of the beauty and love that surrounds us.
