Meet Our Veterinarians

*Dr. Ted E. Dahlstrom*, one of the co-founders of ACM, has been in practice since 1987. He is a mixed animal practitioner who specializes mainly in Production Medicine. Dr. Ted spends a significant amount of time serving as the Senior Veterinarian for Joplin Regional Stockyards, a role he has held since 1995. Dr. Ted is well known and respected by Southwest Missouri's cattle producers, a relationship solidified by the fact he is a cattle producer himself.

*Dr. Carol K. Dahlstrom*, after graduating from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988, co-founded ACM with Dr. Ted. Dr. Carol is a mixed animal veterinarian but spends most of her time treating companion animals and exotics. She is fondly known as Dr. Carol by our clients and has been trusted for over 25 years to tend to their furry family members.

*Dr. John D. Harper* joined ACM's staff in 1994 after responding to Dr. Carol's request to come to Southwest Missouri and practice. Dr. Harper, who grew up in northwest Missouri, received his DVM from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. He practices mixed animal medicine, spending a lot of time taking care of horses and cattle. He is also a very talented small animal orthopedic surgeon.

*Dr. John D. Tyra* joined the Animal Clinic of Monett in the summer of 2010 as a new graduate. Dr. Tyra's special interests include beef and dairy production medicine and bovine reproductive services. He is married to his wife Nikki and is the proud father of daughter Emory. They all share the house with a six-year-old pit bull named Baloo.

*Dr. Matthew B. Stokes* is the newest member of the ACM team. He practices mixed animal medicine, with an interest in the Internal Medicine of animals both small and large. In his free time, Dr. Stokes enjoys barbecuing, catfishing, renovating his 1920's Craftsman Bungalow, and spending time with his senior Black Lab mix, Truman.

Skilled and Caring Support Staff

*Shelby Clark*, our Practice Manager, is a Barry County native who joined ACM in 2016. She rejoined ACM in May of 2022 as our Practice Manager. Shelby's favorite thing about ACM is working closely with our wonderful and successful doctors and team.

Our Services

At Animal Clinic of Monett, our ambition is to keep your furry, feathered, and scaly family members as healthy as possible. We fully believe that prevention is the key to maintaining a healthy pet, but we understand that situations arise that require urgent attention and we are proud to provide emergency care until 10 pm for your pets. In our large animal practice, we offer a variety of services and medication. We also have chute facilities here at the clinic to assist with everything from small ruminants all the way to large beef cattle.

*Associate Mixed Animal Veterinarian*

The Animal Clinic of Monett is excited to announce an opening for a full-time Associate Veterinarian position. Established in 1989, the Animal Clinic of Monett is a 5 DVM, fast-paced, true mixed-animal practice located in southwest Missouri. Our practice mix is 55% bovine (Beef 45% and Dairy 10%) and 45% companion animal. In addition, we also provide veterinary services to Joplin Regional Stockyards where we maintain an office on premises.

*Receptionist*
