Our History

Lloyd Electric Co., Inc., a third-generation family-owned business, was established in Roanoke, Virginia, in the early 20th century by J. Lewis Lloyd. Born from the burgeoning industrial boom of the time, the company, initially named Barnett & Brubaker, responded to the growing demands of industries like the Norfolk and Western Railway, which had relocated to Roanoke in the late 1800s. Guided by J. Lewis's vision, the company steadily expanded, with his son, Dean, joining the business in 1955, followed by Dean's sons, Rick and Robert, in 1978 and 1985 respectively.

Reflecting the company's commitment to serving its customers and meeting the evolving needs of industry, Lloyd Electric expanded to Harrisonburg, Virginia, in 1987. The town was experiencing its own industrial surge, and Lloyd Electric was well-positioned to provide its valuable expertise and services to this new market. Today, Bobby and Rick Lloyd, grandsons of the founder, continue to lead the company with the same dedication to quality, customer service, and innovation that has been its hallmark for almost a century.

Comprehensive Motor Repair Services

Our team of highly skilled technicians offers a comprehensive range of motor repair services to meet the diverse needs of our clients. We specialize in the repair of single and three-phase motors, AC and DC motors up to 10,000 HP (up to 4300V), vertical, wound rotor, synchronous, and eddy current motors, as well as pumps, including submersible, vertical hollow shaft, and solid shaft pumps. We also provide magnet repair and generator repair services, along with warranty repair for select manufacturers (call for details).

Our commitment to precision ensures that every repair is carried out with the utmost care and attention to detail. We use the latest technologies and techniques, including precision rewinding, shaft repair, turning lathes, milling machines, TIG and MIG welding, turn and undercutting commutators, and dynamic balancing.

Performance Motor Analysis and Laser Alignment

These services allow us to identify potential issues early on, optimize motor performance, reduce energy consumption, and extend the lifespan of your equipment.
