Our History

MapWise was founded in September 2000 by Brian May, who has spent his entire career working with GIS software, hardware, data, and analysis. Before founding MapWise, Mr. May spent ten years working on enterprise GIS implementation for the St. Johns River Water Management District. During his time with the government, he realized that government agencies generate a wealth of information that is useful to the real estate industry, but it is often difficult to acquire and even more difficult to use. Mr. May set out to change that by providing easy-to-use mapping-related products and services that the real estate industry needed.

Our Services

At MapWise, we offer a range of services designed specifically for real estate professionals. Our GIS Map Viewer is a web-based application that allows you to search parcel data statewide, export targeted parcel data for mailings, research, and more. You can also get detailed property information for all parcels in Florida, as well as access to 70+ GIS map layers, including aerial photos, parcels, flood zones, future land use, zoning, soils, wetlands, and more.

Our GIS Map Viewer includes a range of features that make it easy to use and intuitive. You can measure distance and area, draw custom features, GPS location, import data, and more. You can also obtain wetland acreage statistics by parcel, import shapefiles, print PDF maps, and export large images.
