Our Story

Lawrence Auto Body was founded by Larry Lawrence in 1977. Larry's early experience with a lackluster repair job inspired him to learn the craft and eventually open his own shop. Over the years, he brought his expertise from painting specialty vehicles for the International Auto Show in Detroit and the Indy 500 to his own collision repair business, providing the highest quality repairs for his customers.

In 1989, Kate Lawrence joined the business after working for 12 years as a claims specialist in the insurance industry. Kate's experience in insurance provides her with a unique understanding of the auto claims process, allowing her to advocate for her customers and help them navigate the repair process. Kate is also passionate about serving the community, having served as Mayor of the City of Brighton for eight years and currently serving as a Livingston County Commissioner.

Mike Lawrence, like his mother and father, is a graduate of Brighton High School and holds a Business Management degree from Grand Valley State University. Mike's educational background allows him to incorporate new techniques and materials to ensure that Lawrence Auto Body remains on the cutting edge of the collision repair industry. He is particularly interested in fine paint finishes and "green paint technology, " which represents the future of auto refinishing.
