Designing for Sustainability, Building for Life
SunWorks Architecture was established in 1982 by Douglas Claude Rhodes, Architect. We are a full service architectural firm specializing in exceptional energy efficient residential, commercial, and civic design. Our expertise includes renovations of existing buildings, transforming old and dark structures into exciting buildings filled with light and magic. Our team is dedicated to merging the 'Art of Architecture' with construction techniques and details that will stand the test of time. We believe in designing buildings that not only meet but exceed our clients' needs and budget.
Why Hire an Architect?
At SunWorks, we understand the importance of getting it right the first time. Our design process is based on fulfilling your program's needs and budget. We strive to create energy-efficient designs that utilize the latest advanced heating, ventilating, and cooling systems, along with the most efficient insulating techniques. Our goal is to make the most of your land by ensuring proper siting and orientation of the building, optimizing solar gain and protecting the building from wind, rain, and snow. Safety is also a top priority, as we believe in open communication and collaboration with the building trades to ensure a safe and successful project.
What You Can Expect from SunWorks
From the initial design meetings to the final construction, we are committed to guiding you through every step of your project. We finalize the design prior to the construction documents, ensuring that your vision is clearly communicated to the contractor and sub-contractors. Regular site visits and open communication ensure that any issues are addressed promptly, and your project stays on track. Our dedication to your satisfaction is evident in every detail, from the initial design concept to the completed project.
Featured Projects
The 1993 Office Building is one of our most notable projects. Begun in 1993 after the great Whitefish Fire of 1992, it was a total loss. We successfully organized a group of business owners to invest in a new building, which was completed in April 1994. This building is designed to face the sun and is nestled into the hillside, making it inexpensive to operate. It has been the home to SunWorks Architecture for over 25 years.
