Our center is an essential part of the Mahamevnawa Buddhist Monastic Order, which was founded by Most Venerable Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thero in Sri Lanka in 1961. Following a conventional monastic education, he encountered the Buddha's teachings in the Pali Canon unexpectedly, prompting him to leave temple life behind and immerse himself in forest monasteries and hermitages. His unwavering commitment to practicing the Dhamma has culminated in the establishment of numerous meditation centers worldwide, including our very own in New Jersey.
