Harty Insurance, Inc. has a rich history deeply rooted in the community of Jamestown, North Dakota. Since 1936, the agency has been dedicated to providing individuals, families, and businesses with peace of mind through quality risk protection. This legacy began with John J. Harty, who started his insurance services by helping his colleagues at the Union Pacific Railroad.

Guided by principles of personal service and a commitment to understanding his clients' needs, John built a strong foundation for Harty Insurance. In 1955, his son, James (Jim) K. Harty, joined the family business, further strengthening their dedication to customer satisfaction. Under Jim's leadership, the agency continued to grow and expand its reach, serving the insurance needs of the community from its downtown Jamestown office.

In 1980, Jim's son, James Harty Jr., joined his father at Harty Insurance, bringing a new generation of expertise to the agency. Two years later, his son Thomas followed suit, immersing himself in the family tradition. The agency's commitment to growth and service led to a significant expansion in July 2000 when the family purchased a new office in North Jamestown, enabling them to diversify their offerings and provide a comprehensive product line for both personal and group insurance needs.
