Founded in 1996 by British designers Joanna Bibby and Harriet Maxwell Macdonald, who shared an aesthetic for the beauty of the understated, OCHRE has since expanded to include Solenne de la Fouchardiere as a partner and fellow designer. Our clients include leading international interior designers and architects, as well as individuals seeking discreet glamour for their private residences, boutique hotels, and restaurants.

Sustainable Practices

At OCHRE, we are deeply committed to sustainability. Our designs are inspired by the innate beauty of natural materials and a respect for traditional hand-forming techniques. We work on a made-to-order basis with specialist workshops in the UK and US, chosen for their exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to preserving skills and training a new generation of apprentices. We blend centuries-old techniques with modern technology, utilizing energy efficiencies and minimizing waste.

Our pieces are crafted using FSC-approved woods, by-product leathers, and horn, bronze, glass, porcelain, and natural fibers. We track provenance throughout the supply chain and offer eco-friendly upholstery fillings and algae-based technology as alternatives to petroleum-based materials. Our offices and showrooms run on green energy sources, and we are committed to improving our carbon footprint and using bio-based alternatives to plastic where possible.
