Juneau Cooperative Preschool

Welcome to Juneau Cooperative Preschool, a nurturing and supportive learning environment for children and their families. Our preschool is founded on the belief that learning is a cooperative effort between adults and children. We strive to create a safe, positive, and accepting environment where families can learn and grow together.

At Juneau Cooperative Preschool, we believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences and play. Our preschoolers have the opportunity to explore and learn through dramatic play, block building, problem-solving, investigating, planning, making mistakes, discussing their ideas with other children and adults, hearing good stories and songs, and playing creatively with a variety of materials. We also place a strong emphasis on spending time outdoors and exploring the natural world.

Our program is designed to encourage children to think for themselves, solve problems, and ask questions. We believe that it is beneficial for families to be in the classroom learning and participating with their children. This enables parents and caregivers to have a first-hand understanding of their child's learning and to be actively involved in their education.

Our Teachers

Our teachers are dedicated to providing a high-quality educational experience for all of our students. They are experienced and passionate about early childhood education. Our teachers understand the importance of play in the learning process and strive to create a supportive and engaging classroom environment.

*Kennedie*: Kennedie is 23 years old and has always had a passion for child care. She enjoys working with children and watching them learn and grow.

*Ashley*: Ashley is a proud mother of three beautiful children. She has a deep understanding of the needs and development of young children and is dedicated to providing a supportive and engaging learning environment.

*Mary - Lead Teacher*: Mary discovered her love for working with children when her two children attended preschool. She has a wealth of experience and is committed to providing a high-quality educational experience for all of our students.

*Lauren*: Lauren is leading Pre-school Plus on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. She has two daughters and is passionate about early childhood education.

Our Board of Directors

The JCP Board of Directors consists of JCP parents and teachers who are committed to the success of our preschool. The board is responsible for the overall management and operation of the preschool, as well as fundraising and community outreach.

Elections for board officers take place in May, with 1-2 year terms. Preschool parents are invited and encouraged to attend board meetings, which are typically held in the classroom on the Second Tuesday of each month at 6:00 pm via Zoom.

New students will receive an orientation forms and welcome letter via email upon registration.
