Quality at an Affordable Price
Welcome to the Accountants Association of Iowa (AAI), a dynamic organization dedicated to serving independent accountants across the state. Since our inception in 1945, we have been committed to upholding the highest standards of conduct and promoting the professional growth of our members.
Our founders, Fred Eslick of Mason City, Karl Mochrl of Marshalltown, and L.P. Christensen of Cedar Rapids, envisioned an organization that would instill in its members an appreciation for their responsibilities to clients and the importance of rendering prompt, faithful, and efficient service. Over the years, we have evolved and adapted to changing legislations and industry trends, but our core values have remained constant.
In 1950, the name of the organization was changed to Iowa Bookkeeping & Tax Service Association, and in 1955, it was changed again to Iowa Society of Independent Accountants. It wasn't until 1959 that the Articles of Incorporation were amended to reflect our current name, Accountants Association of Iowa. In 1975, legislation was passed that granted our members a license with the title Accounting Practitioner, which was later changed to Licensed Public Accountant.
As a member of AAI, you will join a community of independent accountants who share your professional concerns and aspirations. Our members enjoy a wide range of special services and opportunities, including district meetings, quality education, an active website, a member directory, and a centralized administrative office that maintains corporate records and answers member questions.
We are affiliated with the National Society of Accountants and serve as a recognized liaison to state agencies, the Small Business Administration, and the Internal Revenue Service. We monitor state accountancy laws and regulations affecting the independent accountant, and we have a paid lobbyist that monitors state accounting laws, regulations, and judicial decisions. Our representation on Capital Hill through the NSA ensures that the voice of independent accountants in Iowa is heard.
