Challenge Custom Cabinetry was founded in 1989 by Tom Propps, a skilled craftsman who brought his passion for woodworking to the Myrtle Beach area after retiring from his role as a high school principal. Tom's vision was to create a company that offered exceptional quality and personalized service, and he instilled these values in his sons, Jon and James, who now lead the company.

Jon, with his inherent talent for craftsmanship and dedication to detail, joined his father in the early days, bringing his woodworking expertise and management skills to the table. Several years later, James, newly graduated from the University of South Carolina, joined the family business. Recognizing the importance of hands-on experience, James obtained his contractor's license and alongside his brother and father, gained valuable insights into the complexities of home construction. Eventually, the family decided to focus solely on their cabinet-making passion, and Challenge Custom Cabinetry became their dedicated mission.
