Scott Landscaping & Tree Service is a family owned and operated landscaping company that has been providing complete service including consulting, design, installation, and maintenance to the New Kent, Charles City, Williamsburg, and Richmond areas for over 20 years. Our family has been caring for the environment for four generations, and we apply that passion to each and every service we provide.

Our Story

L.G. Scott Landscaping and Tree Service is a family owned business with four generations of experience in the green industry. During the Great Depression, the great-grandfather of the owners, Ernest Scott, served with the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked on numerous projects around the Northeastern United States. His son, Larkin G. Scott, enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating high school and served honorably in both WWII and the Korean War. After his time in the military, he started a landscaping and tree service in Philadelphia, PA, which he ran until his retirement.

His son, Larkin G. Scott II, father of the owners, grew up helping his father with his business and learning all aspects of the landscaping industry. After high school, he also served in the US Navy for several years and used the GI Bill to earn his B.S. in Horticulture from Delaware Valley College. After college, Larkin worked in the northeast for a large landscaping firm and learned even more about the landscape industry. Having lived in Virginia while in the Navy, he decided to move his family to Virginia, where he had the opportunity to manage a feed and garden supply store. After years away from the landscape service industry, Larkin decided it was time to start his own company, and L.G. Scott Landscaping and Tree Service was born.

In 2008, he sold the business to his two eldest sons, Larkin G. Scott III and Luke G. Scott.

Maintenance Services

Our maintenance services allow you to simply enjoy your landscape while we take care of all the work. We offer a variety of services including mowing, leaf management, bed mulching, annual plantings, weeding, edging, spring cleanup, fall cleanup, and cleanup and prep for special events.

Professional Turf & Ornamental Care

We provide programs designed to maintain the beauty and functionality of your landscape investment. This includes the Good Neighbor Basic Program, Good Neighbor Plus Program, Good Neighbor Warm Season Program, and Ornamental Tree & Shrub Care. We also offer monthly weed treatments in mulch beds, on gravel driveways, and fencelines, as well as custom plans tailored to your specific needs.

Other Services

In addition to our landscaping services, we also offer specialized services such as renewable energy maintenance. We understand the importance of renewable energy and are entering the renewable energy industry by maintaining solar farms throughout Virginia. This includes but is not limited to mowing, drainage, hydroseeding, erosion control, snow removal, and tree removal.
