Our History

Gradient Construction was founded in 1992 by John Riffe with a vision to serve the growing construction needs of the Southern Maryland region. Initially focusing on residential construction projects, the company specialized in installing septic systems, underground tanks, utilities, plumbing, and HVAC systems. As the area experienced rapid development, the demand for Gradient Construction's services expanded, prompting a shift towards commercial construction.

Today, Gradient Construction boasts a team of 40 skilled employees, representing a diverse range of expertise in the utility construction sector. Our unwavering commitment to quality, efficiency, and employee well-being has fueled our steady growth and allowed us to serve a wide array of commercial and government clients. We've had the privilege of building water/sewage treatment facilities, pipelines, and pump stations throughout Southern Maryland, contributing to the region's vital infrastructure.
