Welcome to Huguenot UMC Preschool, a Richmond, VA preschool dedicated to providing a nurturing, family-friendly atmosphere where learning and fun become one. Our team of professional early childhood educators is committed to creating intentional, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that promote your child's spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive, and physical growth. We strive to meet the unique needs of our parents and children through our Infant, Toddler, and Pre-Kindergarten Programs.

Huguenot United Methodist Preschool began in 1971 as a social development program three mornings a week. Since then, we have expanded to offer a Pre-K program, new equipment, carpeted classrooms, updated bathrooms, an extended care program, an infant program, and an expanded summer program. We have achieved national accreditation through NAC/AELL and joined the Virginia Quality program in 2015. Our religious exempt childcare certification from the Virginia Department of Social Services ensures that we meet and exceed all the necessary requirements for childcare.

Our Preschool Center offers a small school setting with a student/staff ratio of approximately 5:1, catering to individual children's needs in the age range of infant to 5 years old. Our dedicated and talented staff members ensure a loving, relaxed atmosphere for children's first learning experiences. We offer an innovative music and movement program, expanded outdoor play facilities, special programs including drama, theater, and other outside resources, daily process-oriented creative art, cooking projects, and many other themes and activities.

Our Programs and Services

At Huguenot UMC Preschool, we offer a range of programs and services designed to meet the unique needs of our families. Our Core Program provides a safe, nurturing, family-oriented environment for children aged 6 months to 5 years old. We offer a Flexible Scheduling option, allowing parents to choose from 9 or 12-month enrollments, full-time care, and open weekdays from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Our Extended Care Program offers care before and after regular hours, providing additional flexibility for families.

Our Inclusion Program provides a supportive and inclusive environment for all children, including those with special needs. We believe that every child has the right to quality education, and we work to ensure that all children feel valued and respected. Our developmentally appropriate program supports each child's growth, promoting their spiritual, emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development.

We offer a variety of forms and policies to ensure the smooth running of our Preschool Center. Our Parent Handbook provides detailed information about our programs, policies, and procedures. Our Potty Training Policy and Illness Policy provide guidelines for parents and staff to follow, ensuring the health and safety of all children. Our Staff Bios provide insight into our dedicated and talented staff members, and our Parent Committee and Parenting Blog offer opportunities for parents to be involved in the Preschool Center community.

At Huguenot UMC Preschool, we are committed to providing quality care and education to all children. We believe that nutrition is essential to a child's growth and development, and we offer healthy, balanced meals and snacks. We also provide resources for parents, including a Careers section and a Calendar of events. Our Registration and Pricing information is available on our website, and we offer in-person tours on the first Wednesday of each month during the school year at 10:00 AM.
