Our Mission

When we first opened our doors, we asked ourselves an important question: "What would be a parent's top priorities when looking for a preschool?" The answer was clear: parents want a preschool that provides a loving and learning environment where their children feel safe, happy, and recognized as unique individuals. This founding principle has been the cornerstone of the Children's Studio and serves as the foundation of our program.

Our mission is to create living and learning experiences that encourage the unique individual qualities in every child to blossom. We support the development of a strong sense of self-esteem, compassion, independence, self-reliance, curiosity, creativity, respect for one's self, one's neighbors, and the larger community. These goals are all held under the umbrella of a loving environment where intellectual freedom and emotional and physical safety are priorities.

Our History

The Children's Studio first opened its doors almost three decades ago with an enrollment of one student. Since then, we have grown to become one of the most respected preschools in Montclair, NJ. Our school is located in the Quaker Meeting House at 289 Park Street in Upper Montclair and is non-funded, non-denominational, and multicultural. We are known for our emphasis on a creative approach to living and learning, true respect for individual differences, encouraging the development of the unique learning style of each child, and maintaining an excellent teacher-to-student ratio in all age groups.

Program Choices

The Children's Studio is divided into three sections: a nursery group, a preschool group, and a pre-kindergarten group. Each group functions independently as a cohesive unit and thrives on living and learning experiences that match their groups' developmental level. Our supportive environment combined with our skill-based and project-based curriculum allows for the true potential in each child to come into flower.

Languages & Cultures

At the Children's Studio, we celebrate diversity and believe that exposure to different languages and cultures is essential for a well-rounded education. We introduce children to different cultures through music, art, stories, and games. We also offer language classes, such as Spanish and Mandarin, to give children the opportunity to learn a new language in a fun and engaging way.

Classroom Visitors

We invite guest speakers, such as artists, musicians, and scientists, to visit our classrooms and share their knowledge and expertise with our students.
