First Presbyterian Church

Since 1968, our school has been building the foundation for a lifetime of learning in a nurturing and engaging environment. We are proud to be a premiere preschool in Ridgewood, New Jersey, offering high-quality early childhood education to children from age 2 1/2 to 4 years old.

Our Mission

At First Presbyterian Church Nursery School, our mission is to develop the emotional, intellectual, social, and physical growth of our students. We believe that education is a cooperative effort among students, parents, and staff, designed to stimulate the creativity and achievements of each child. Our teachers place emphasis on the process and the joy of learning and creating, rather than on the finished product. We believe in the importance of the individual and help each student to develop a positive self-image.

Our Programs

Our programs are designed to prepare our students for kindergarten and beyond. Each of our classes provides age-appropriate reading and math readiness, stories and songs, large and small muscle development, science, social studies, and art. Our curriculum is designed to foster a love of learning and a sense of curiosity and exploration.

Academic Programs

Our academic programs focus on providing a strong foundation in reading, math, and writing. Our teachers use a variety of strategies to engage our students, including hands-on activities, storytelling, and games. Our programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each child and to prepare them for future academic success.

Social Development

We believe that social development is an essential part of childhood education. Our teachers encourage socialization and cooperation among our students through daily group activities, play-based learning, and special events. Our students also have the opportunity to participate in music, gym, and Spanish classes to develop their fine motor skills and language skills.

Field Trips

We believe that hands-on learning experiences are an essential part of childhood education. Our field trips provide our students with opportunities to explore and learn about the world around them. We visit local farms, museums, and other places that align with our curriculum and learning objectives.
