Mission & History

Pipeline Theatre Company is a New York-based theater company that believes in the magic of an unbridled imagination and its power to provoke a more courageous and compassionate world. We thrive on adventure and take risks in telling stories that leave an indelible mark on our audience's hearts, minds, or guts. Founded in 2009 by a group of students at the Atlantic Acting School, Pipeline Theatre Company began as a class project, requiring students to build a theater company from the ground up. Our first production was Timberlake Wertenbaker's The Love of the Nightingale, which was a critical and box-office success. Since then, we have produced many plays, including world premieres, such as Tim Chawaga's Sleepless City, Charles Busch's Psycho Beach Party, and Alex Mills' Shakespeare the Dead. We aim to create theater of the imagination and bring original and thought-provoking productions to the New York stage.

Our Work On Stage Now

Pipeline Theatre Company is committed to producing new and innovative works that challenge and entertain our audiences. Our current production is Playing Hot by Kevin Armento, Jaki Bradley, and Marcus Miller, which is set to open in Spring 2023. The play is a darkly comedic exploration of ambition, love, and identity, following a group of four young musicians as they navigate the cutthroat world of jazz in 1920s New Orleans.

In addition to our mainstage productions, we also produce Second Stage projects, such as the Brave New Works series, which showcases original works by members of the NYU community. We believe in supporting emerging playwrights and providing them with a platform to develop their craft.

New Work Development

Pipeline Theatre Company is dedicated to fostering new talent and developing new works. We believe that the creation of new theater is essential to the health and vitality of the artistic community. We provide playwrights with the resources and support they need to bring their boldest and most ambitious ideas to life. Our PlayLab program is an annual new play development workshop, where playwrights work closely with a director, dramaturg, and actors to develop their scripts.

Tickets & Events

Pipeline Theatre Company produces high-quality theater that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. Our tickets are affordably priced, and we offer various discounts to students, seniors, and groups. We host various events throughout the year, including post-show discussions, talkbacks, and workshops. Our events provide an opportunity for our audience to engage with the artists and learn more about the creative process behind our productions.
