MH Architects

MH Architects is a multi-faceted architecture firm based in San Francisco. Our principal, Matt Hollis, has been in practice since 2006 and has a range of technical experience in residential, winery, hotel, office, and institutional programs. Our firm has designed buildings not only across California but also in Japan, China, Costa Rica, and Hawaii. We work closely with clients to create the optimal building for their specific program requirements and aesthetic goals, always considering sustainable practices and systems.

Our team consists of experienced professionals, each with their unique background and passion. For instance, Helen Vasquez, our project manager, has a passion for dancing and has even designed dance costumes. David Castro, another project manager, grew up in a home designed by his family and has a strong background in design and illustrations. Matt Hollis, our principal, is a native San Franciscan with a deep appreciation for the city's architectural heritage. Kelly Heath and Stephanie Strawhacker, both project managers, bring a diverse range of experiences from industrial design and historical fiction to painting and Vespa exploration.

Notable Projects

One of our notable projects is the Donum Estate, a hospitality house located in Sonoma County's Carneros wine-growing region. The design objective was to create an elegant set of dispersed winery buildings that frame an open-air sculpture garden featuring renowned artists. The site offers breathtaking views of the coastal range and is surrounded by rolling hills.
