At Selkirk School, we are dedicated to fostering a love of learning in Preschool and Kindergarten children in the Sandpoint community. Since 1978, we have been providing a nurturing environment where children can explore, learn, and grow at their own pace. Our experienced teachers, small class sizes, and expansive outdoor spaces create the perfect setting for your child to thrive.

Our Philosophy

We believe that every child is unique and deserves an individualized approach to learning. Our curriculum is designed to be child-centered, fun, and engaging, with a focus on integrated academic skills, creative expression, and social-emotional development. We recognize that each child learns differently, and our experienced teachers are dedicated to finding the right approach for your child. Our goal is to create a confident, curious, and communicative child who will become a joyful lifelong learner.

Our Services

We offer a range of programs designed to meet the needs of families in Sandpoint. Our Threeschool program is designed for children aged 3-4, and our Preschool program is designed for children aged 4-5. Our Pre-K/Kindergarten program is designed for children who are ready for Kindergarten but may not meet the state's age cutoff. We also offer an Aftercare program, called Afternoon Explorers!, which provides extended care and enrichment activities for children. During the summer, we offer a fun and engaging Summer Camp program.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to be engaging, interactive, and fun! We offer a range of activities, including music, yoga, and movement classes, as well as drama and self-expression facilitated through play, art, and lessons. Our curriculum is based on Idaho State Standards, and we place a strong emphasis on choice time, problem-solving, and daily outside exploration.

Our Campus

Our campus is located on a beautiful 4-acre wooded property, providing the perfect setting for outdoor exploration and discovery. Our facilities are designed to be safe, welcoming, and engaging, with plenty of natural light and fresh air. We believe that the outdoors is an extension of the classroom, and we make the most of our unique setting to provide a truly immersive learning experience.
