Our Story

Our journey began over 25 years ago, when Rick Black, a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture, established the practice in 1996. Cindy Black, who has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the same prestigious institution, joined Rick in 2001. Together, we've built a reputation for creating spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional and sustainable.

• Conceptual Study: A limited design service that helps you evaluate whether a construction project will achieve your overall goals. This service includes a meeting to discuss program and design goals, a site visit and documentation, and focus on the relationship between the building and land.
• Architectural Services: We appreciate the amount of time and consideration required to build a new home or renovate an existing one. Our architectural services guide you through the design and construction process, ensuring that your project stays on track and meets your needs.

• Rick Black: A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture, Rick has a strong sense of craft and consideration toward construction details. He is a constant student of architecture and construction, seeking out innovations in building science that can be elegantly integrated into humanist space.
• Cindy Black: A fifth-generation Texan from Dallas, Cindy has a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She has a strong background in historical preservation and is a member of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Arts.
