Christ The Healer UCC

Christ the Healer United Church of Christ (CtHUCC) was founded in October 1996 by Gabrielle and Thomas Chavez. They sent out 40 invitations to people who they thought might be interested in co-creating a new church, dedicated to the imitation of Christ as both assembler of community and practitioner of healing. Twelve individuals showed up for an initial gathering, and since then, the community has been on a fascinating spiritual adventure in community. Many of the early members were not interested in Christianity and had explored a variety of other beliefs and practices. At CtHUCC, we ask everyone to share their treasures found in their search for wholeness.

Our Mission

CtHUCC is a Christian community dedicated to continual growth so that we become the best versions of ourselves. We do this through practices that foster real transformation. Our mission is to embody grace in the fullness of Christ. We aim to love one another unconditionally first, then seek to understand each other. Our aim is to create a community that reflects the kin-dom of heaven, where we can heal our hearts, souls, and the world.

Our Practices

We offer weekly Body Electronics Gatherings, monthly Friends in Grace (FIG) listening and support meetings, and opportunities to grow your spiritual knowledge. We invite you to participate in our special events too, like the Climate Cafe, or Body Electronics Intensive. Our practices are designed to help us realize our fullest being in greater service to one another. We are creating the kin-dom of heaven, on earth, together.

The Compass Way

The Compass Way is a framework from which we operate at CtHUCC. We seek to love each other first, unconditionally, then we seek to understand one another. Through the Compass Way, we learn what we call the 'Grace Practices', including embodied presence with what absolutely is, embodied gratitude for the world we find ourselves in, embodied joy through the everyday experiences, embodied love with all that is, embodied acceptance of every experience, embodied inspiration to make the most of every situation, embodied awe in the face of yourself and every other presence that you encounter, and embodied peace with it all! These practices are designed to help us embody grace, the perfection of love on earth.

Our Values

At CtHUCC, we take the life teachings and examples of Christ seriously and follow as closely as possible in the footsteps of this Premiere Pioneer and Perfector of our Human Endeavor. Our community embraces and embodies various practices, including drumming, Reiki, Body Electronics, raw foods, and radical peace. We are a Christ-centered body sharing its gifts. Our values include love, understanding, and embodiment of grace.
