Our History

Bennie Cohn, a WWII veteran, came to Muskegon in the 1930s to play baseball and later co-founded Vet's Clothing store in downtown Muskegon in 1947. He went on to open a used furniture and appliance retail store on Henry Street in Muskegon Heights, which eventually became Cohn's Furniture in 1954. Today, his son Bob and partner Bill Gillard continue to uphold the ideals and goals set forth by Bennie, ensuring that our customers receive the best possible service and value.

At Cohn's Furniture and Carpeting, we offer a wide range of services to make your shopping experience seamless and convenient. We carry brand-name furniture manufacturers such as Berkline, Chromcraft, Lane, Peters-Revington, and Vaughn-Bassett, as well as floor covering by Congoleum and Shaw Carpeting. In addition, we specialize in in-house financing up to 36 months, with 90 days being always the same as cash. Other financing programs are also available to fit your needs. Our knowledgeable staff is always happy to assist you in finding the perfect piece of furniture or carpeting for your home.
