Pfefferkorn Engineering & Environmental is a woman-owned small business providing engineering and environmental services. Founded in 2015 by engineer siblings Kate and Gabe Pfefferkorn, the company has its roots in a long history of construction and engineering. The story begins with their great grandfather Bill A. Pfeffekorn, who started Pfefferkorn Lumber. The lumber yard was eventually run by Bill's children, including Paul Pfefferkorn, who founded Chaffee Building Company as a contractor. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Bill and his wife Mary Jo designed and constructed several commercial and residential properties, involving their six children in the process.
Growing up, Gabe was fascinated by building and construction, starting with his first bridge at age 12, which spanned a creek near his childhood home. Kate, on the other hand, discovered her passion for engineering at age 16, after working on homes with her father and seeing her brother's impressive structures. They both went on to study engineering and gained industry experience before forming Pfefferkorn Engineering & Environmental in their 30s. Their mission is to use their talents to improve quality of life and better the communities they serve, guided by core principles of integrity, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.
