Meet Dr. Ryan Nelson

Dr. Ryan Nelson, a native of Flushing, MI, is the driving force behind our clinic. After completing his Biology degree from the University of Michigan, he discovered his passion for orthopedics while working as a medical assistant at Greater Michigan Orthopedics. He went on to earn his osteopathic medical degree from Midwestern University in Chicago, IL.

Upon returning to Grand Blanc in 2011, Dr. Nelson completed his residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center, where he served on multiple committees and as chief resident from 2015-2016. He further honed his skills with an additional year of training at the New England Baptist Hospital and Boston Children's Hospital, where he served as team doctor for Merrimack College and the Boston Celtics. Dr. Nelson was also clinical faculty for Tufts University Medical School and published numerous research projects.

Currently, Dr. Nelson balances his roles as a Surgeon, Teacher, Husband, and Dad. His extensive training and commitment to excellence make him a valuable asset to our clinic and our patients.

Sports Medicine

Sports injuries can happen to athletes of all shapes, sizes, and activity levels. Dr. Nelson has specialized training in caring for athletes from all backgrounds. Our approach to sports medicine involves a comprehensive assessment of the injury, followed by a customized treatment plan. Common sports injuries, such as sprains and strains, can often be managed with rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE). We also emphasize the importance of preventative measures, such as proper warm-up and cool-down exercises, wearing properly-fitted protective gear, and maintaining a healthy diet.
