Robert began practicing law in San Diego in 1981 and practiced with an "AV-Rated" five-attorney civil litigation, business, and real estate law firm in downtown San Diego for 15 years. In 1999, he opened his own law firm at its current location.

Throughout his career, Robert has been an active participant in professional activities, including serving as an arbitrator for the San Diego Superior Court and the American Arbitration Association, teaching contract law and business law at the University of California, San Diego Extension, and participating in seminars before professional groups such as the San Diego County Bar Association, the San Diego Association of Realtors, and the National Conflict Resolution Center.

Robert has also authored over 25 legal articles that have appeared in various professional publications, including San Diego Lawyer, Orange County Bar Journal, San Diego Realtor, and Rental Owner (S.D. County Apartment Assoc.). He has been a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and the California State Bar since his admission to the bar in 1980.

Additionally, Robert has served as the chair of the Realtor/Attorney Committee, a joint committee of the San Diego Association of Realtors (SDAR) and the San Diego County Bar Association, in 1987 and 1997. He has been an affiliate member of SDAR since 1986 and was named Affiliate of the Year in 2011. Robert also holds a California real estate broker license and has served as an expert witness on real estate issues.
