We are Jonathan Burton and Bonnie Burton, a passionate husband-wife team of award-winning professional photographers with over three decades of combined experience. Our full-service photography studio, located in the heart of the High Country near Boone, North Carolina, specializes in portraits and commercial photography. We are proud to serve clients from Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Linville, West Jefferson, Winston-Salem, and beyond, and we are always ready for travel. Portrait Photographers

We understand that finding the right portrait photographer can be a daunting task. With a sea of options, from beginners to part-timers and professionals, we take pride in our extensive experience and the 20-year legacy of our studio. We create portraits of newborns to centenarians, family groups of any size, and special moments such as senior year, anniversaries, and milestone birthdays. Our love for natural light is apparent, but we know how to harness and modify it to bring out the best in you. With a deep understanding of lighting patterns and studio lighting situations, we skillfully use supplemental lighting equipment when needed for environmental portraits. We confidently add, subtract, or redirect light to make your portrait stand out.

*Posing*

Posing is often misunderstood as an unnatural, awkward process. Rest assured, we are experts in posing that feels comfortable and natural while highlighting your best features. We carefully position individuals or groups to showcase connection, emotion, and your true self.

*Location*

We have access to many stunning mountain locations, but we believe that the most sentimental value comes from creating portraits in a place that matters to you. We can create beautiful portraits almost anywhere, so trust us to collaborate and make your vision a reality.

Portrait Styles

During your portrait session, we'll discuss your preferences and create three different types of portraits that reflect your personality. Our Classic style features thoughtful poses with subjects looking at the camera, usually smiling. Illustrative portraits showcase interaction and natural expressions between subjects without focusing on the camera. Pictorial portraits feature the environment as the main subject with people as a small part, similar to a stunning, detailed painting.

Wedding Photographers

We are currently taking a break from photographing big weddings, but we are excited to create engagement, bridal, or happily-ever-after portraits for you. We'd also be delighted to photograph your elopement. Our images have been described as "Story-Telling-Meets-Fine-Art, " and we will capture those special moments with the same tenderness and skill that we bring to all of our work.
