Avenue Barber Shop

Avenue Barber Shop, located in the heart of Downtown Grand Rapids on Division Avenue, is an independent, family-owned, and operated barber shop that prides itself on its commitment to providing high-quality traditional cuts and excellent customer service. Founded by Chris Lapham in 2017, the shop is a tribute to the classic barbershops of the 1940s and 1950s, where clients are never just another number.

After attending Lansing Barber College and receiving his barbers license in 2016, Chris moved back to Grand Rapids, the city he has spent his whole life in, to open a shop on a street where he spent a large portion of his childhood. Chris's vision was to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, where clients can relax and enjoy a traditional barbering experience.

At Avenue Barber Shop, each cut is carefully crafted with attention to detail. We believe that even the smallest details matter, which is why every cut is finished with a neck and around the ear clean up with a razor. Our services include haircuts, beard trims, and wedding party packages. We offer a lower price for clients who combine their haircut and beard trim in one appointment.

• Haircut - $30: Whether you're looking for a low fade, flat top, or bald fade, our skilled barbers have got you covered. Every cut is finished with a neck and ear clean up with a razor.
• Hair & Beard - $40: Get a lower price when you combine your haircut and beard trim in one appointment.
• Beard Trim - $20: Keep it neat with a beard trim. Line up the sides and take care of any stray hairs.
• Wedding Parties - Cost Varies: If you want your whole wedding party looking great, give us a call to set up a before-open appointment.

Meet the Barbers

Chris Lapham, the owner of Avenue Barber Shop, graduated from the Lansing Barber College with his barbers license in 2016. He opened Avenue Barber Shop in September 2017.

Samie Barrett, a barber at Avenue Barber Shop, graduated from Lansing Barber College with her barbers license in 2020. She started with Avenue Barber Shop in July 2021.

Josh Albert, a barber at Avenue Barber Shop, graduated from the Lansing Barber College with his barbers license in 2016. He started working with Avenue Barber Shop in May 2018.

Mnasse Tekle, a barber apprentice at Avenue Barber Shop, has been working with Chris since March 2022 and is currently doing all styles of haircuts.
