Designing a Better Tomorrow
Our Story
In 1996, just a few weeks prior to the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, Chris Goode and Paul Van Slyke launched Goode Van Slyke Architecture (GVSA) with the simple intent of executing great architecture and visionary master planning through creative eyes. This simple intent remains unaltered more than twenty-five years later and has been delivered via unique projects that span a wide array of types and sizes. Our work began with K-12 projects, progressed through university work, and then bridged to many exciting and public and private sector buildings and master planned typologies. These applications, regardless of size and complexities, have told a story of innovation, environmental responsibility, and social responsiveness that speaks to our original intent.
Four Pillars
1. Design: Great design is at the root of all that we do to impact each community in a meaningful and permanent way.
2. Community: GVSA not only wants to reinvigorate communities with meaningful planning and design but, we also contribute directly to organizations locally and abroad including the Himalayan Children's Charities, Third Lens, and Habitat for Humanity.
3. Entrepreneurial: We live in an adaptive reuse warehouse that was purchased twenty-two years ago in the Old Fourth Ward of Atlanta where we wanted to be a staple in the development of the area. The building was physically failing, and we took on the risk to develop the property and turn it into a contributing property in an historic neighborhood. We use this same approach in our daily operation of the firm. Managers lead projects with the mentality of improving and learning to maximize profit.
4. Workplace Culture: We believe our firm is only as good as the people that work here. We accomplish more as a group than we ever could as individuals. Our average level of experience is high, and we take pride in mentoring and sharing our experience across the table with other staff members.
