Service Honoring The Golden Rule

At Lien-Straub-Carlsen Chapel, we are committed to providing exceptional funeral services to the communities we serve. Our story began in 1926, when Bert deMalignon moved to Bowdle and established deMalignon Funeral Home. Over the years, the funeral home has undergone several changes in ownership, but our commitment to serving families during their time of need has remained constant.

Our History

In 1961, Floyd Miller and his wife Helen purchased the funeral home from the Schrivers and established deMalignon-Miller Funeral Home. In 1967, the Millers constructed a new funeral chapel in Selby, which was operated out of the former First National Bank building on Main Street. In 1973, the Millers moved to Aberdeen and sold the funeral home to R.E. "Ed" Ackerson.

Ed Ackerson managed the funeral home from 1973 to 1992, when Scott Lien took over as the new owner and funeral director. Under Scott's leadership, the funeral home continued to grow and expand its services. In 2006, Scott and his wife Gale became the sole owners of the funeral home.
