Dahn & Woodhouse Funeral Home

Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Homes have been serving the communities of Carroll, Coon Rapids, Glidden, and Scranton in Iowa since the early 1930s. The funeral home in Scranton was started by the Huffman family, who soon expanded to open funeral homes in Lake City, Glidden, and Carroll. In 1962, Robert D. Woodhouse and Merle Dahn purchased the funeral homes from the Huffmans, with the Huffman family retaining the Lake City location. Merle and Dorothy Dahn were in partnership with the Woodhouses until 1971, when they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona. Jay R. Woodhouse began working in the business during his high school years and went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska and the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service. He then returned home to work in the family business.
