Educating the Whole Child: Head, Heart, Hands

For over 80 years, Magnolia Cooperative Preschool has been dedicated to providing a cooperative preschool experience for children and parents in the Magnolia community. As the oldest and largest cooperative preschool in Seattle, we pride ourselves on our unique approach to early childhood education. Our school is built on the principles of mutual involvement between teachers, parents, and parent educators, working together to create a safe and supportive environment for children to learn and grow.

Our Mission and Purpose

At Magnolia Cooperative Preschool, our mission is to create a collaborative learning environment that fosters social and emotional development in young children. Our purpose is twofold: to educate parents and caregivers in the principles of early childhood education and to provide a cooperative preschool experience for the children enrolled in our program. We achieve this by offering a play-based curriculum that emphasizes creative and cooperative play.

Our Programs

We offer classes for infants through pre-K, with a range of programs designed to meet the unique needs and developments of each age group. From infant classes that introduce young children to the preschool environment to our pre-K classes that prepare children for kindergarten, our programs are designed to be engaging, interactive, and fun.

Infant Classes (3 months to 1 year)

Our infant classes meet once a week for an hour, providing a fun and interactive experience for young children. Parent or caregiver attendance is required, allowing for quality time and bonding. Our experienced teachers and parent educators provide guidance and support as caregivers learn about child development and build relationships with other families.

Toddler Classes (1-2 years)

Toddler classes meet once a week for 90 minutes, introducing children to the preschool environment and including choice time, music, and circle time. This period of free play allows children to explore and learn through developmentally appropriate activities.

Twos (2-3 years)

Two-year-olds, also known as "Twos, " attend class twice a week for 2 hours. A parent or caregiver attends every other class, allowing for quality time and bonding. Our experienced teachers and parent educators provide guidance and support as caregivers learn about child development and build relationships with other families.

Older Classes (3 and up)

Older classes also have the opportunity to take off-site field trips throughout the year, which are included in the class fee. Our special weekly summer classes for existing families are a highlight of the year, offering parents and caregivers a chance to reconnect and enjoy the sunshine.

Why Choose Magnolia Cooperative Preschool?

At Magnolia Cooperative Preschool, we believe that early childhood education is not just about learning, but also about building relationships, creating memories, and fostering a lifelong love of learning. Our unique cooperative model allows parents and caregivers to be actively involved in their child's education, shaping their child's development and creating a strong sense of community.
