Schipper Funeral Home

Schipper Funeral Home has a rich history of serving South West Michigan, dating back to 1957. Our funeral home is located in a beautiful building with a unique story. Originally built by Irwin Godfrey in 1885, the building served as a doctor's office where Dr. Godfrey practiced for six decades. Before it became Schipper Funeral Home, it was known as Austin Funeral Home and Phelps Funeral Home.

Ted and Helen Schipper purchased the building from Mrs. Phelps in August 1957, following the death of her husband. Their youngest son, Tod, received his Mortuary Science degree from Wayne State University and began working with his father in 1982. In 2017, Tod's son Tyler graduated with his Mortuary Science degree from Worsham College and joined his father in business. Today, Tod M. Schipper and Tyler W. Schipper proudly carry on the family tradition as the owners of Schipper Funeral Home.
