Welcome to Crandall Funeral Home, a place where we take pride in serving your family with dignity and professionalism during your time of need. We understand that the passing of a loved one is a challenging experience, and we are here to provide the services you need with thoughtfulness and attention to detail. We encourage you to ask any questions you may have and reach out to us for personal attention.

Our motto is "Thoughtfulness, " and our goal is to provide such a high level of service that every detail, no matter how small, is promptly taken care of and the burden of sorrow is made lighter. We believe that this commitment to excellence is the cornerstone of our business and the reason why families choose to trust us with their loved ones.

Please be aware that there are scams involving unscrupulous people who may pose as funeral home staff. At Crandall Funeral Home, we do not have a secretary, and I, Chuck Theis, am the only person who would contact a family we serve. Always be cautious when giving personal information over the phone and feel free to contact us if you have any concerns.

Our Story: A Legacy of Service

Crandall Funeral Home has a rich and storied history that dates back to the 1870s when Ben Broezel, a barber, began operating a funeral business in the community. Later, he was joined by John Ensch, and they operated a furniture store and the funeral business, known as Broezel & Ensch.

In 1928, Clifford A. Crandall I moved his family to Mauston and became the partner of John Ensch, operating the business as Ensch & Crandall. Clifford later purchased the full business shares and renamed it Crandall & Sons. At that time, the business operated as both a funeral and furniture business. Funerals were held in area churches and the homes of the families they served.

Following the war, Clifford again was joined by his sons in the operation of the business, which now included furniture, carpeting, flooring, LP Gas, and the funeral business. In 1961, James C. Crandall purchased the business from his father and sold the furniture portion of the business in 1963. He continued to operate the funeral business, which is now known as Crandall Funeral Home. In 1987, Jim retired and sold the business to Andy and Chuck, who have been operating it since then.
