What began as a small business in the back room of a grocery store has progressed for generations into a thriving family-owned corporation. Charlie and Mary Alice Ruxer opened the doors of Ruxer Furniture and Appliance in 1945 as a bottled gas distributor. Today, that property is the location of the Spencer County Bank in downtown St. Meinrad. Over the years, the business has evolved to meet the changing needs of society, always finding a need to be met and continuing to offer friendly customer service.
