Our Story

Ricketts Design Co. began in a small garage in the summer of 2017 as a custom corn-hole game building company. Within two months, we transitioned into a custom furniture company. As a busy physical education and Bible teacher, as well as a baseball coach, I worked tirelessly after school and on Saturdays to pursue my dream of owning my own company. I had an internal drive to give my family the means to allow my wife, Paige, to quit her job and stay home with our children.

In 2019, while working at a small private school, I received a $200 raise at the end of the year. This was the moment I realized that my dream would not come to fruition on that salary. At the time, I hadn't proven to myself that I could run a successful business, but I had faith that the Lord would provide for us. And with that, I jumped headlong into full-time woodworking, specializing in all-wood legacy furniture.

In November 2020, Paige was able to come home permanently to be with our children. The Lord has blessed this company with a deep knowledge of woodworking and furniture craftsmanship. This company was started to leave a legacy for my family - a legacy that says a father can be involved in his children's lives, that following Jesus in faith is what's most important. We want to leave a legacy that shows that Jesus is good, and that He loves His children. Any success, any worth, any thing that this company makes or earns is all glory to Jesus, the one who has given us the strength and ability to build what we do.

The Three "L's"

At Ricketts Design Company, we are guided by three core principles: Lord, Lifetime, and Legacy.

Lord

We purpose to honor Jesus every day. From the most minuscule cut to the complete product, we work as unto the Lord. Our commitment to excellence and quality is rooted in our faith and our desire to serve the Lord in all that we do.

Lifetime

Our pieces are carefully handcrafted using all-wood joinery methods while minimizing the use of screws. This ensures that our pieces will last for generations, providing you with a lifetime of enjoyment and use.

Legacy

We long to not just make "another table, " but to make a piece that will truly mean something for your family and leave a legacy to be passed down for years to come. We believe that our furniture should be more than just functional items; they should be symbols of love, tradition, and family heritage.

What is Legacy Furniture?

At Ricketts Design Company, we are truly set out to make legacy furniture for the families we build for. During our build process, we will pray over our customers' families and believe that the same favor that Jesus has put over our business will be over them as well. We care about every aspect of our pieces and process, and believe that it shows. We aim for excellence in all things and to give our customers an enjoyable and relaxing experience, from first contact to final delivery.

Why is our furniture legacy furniture and not priced like furniture you can find at big box furniture stores? The first and most simple answer is that our work is done from all solid wood. Though many companies claim "solid wood, " it is anything but solid, and many people are none the wiser. Here, our pieces are truly made from 100% solid wood. Secondly, we build our pieces from wood joinery such as: mortise and tenon, loose mortise and tenon, dowel, and dovetail joints among others while minimizing screws in all of our work. This use of all wood joinery in the stability joints makes for pieces that last for generations and not just a few short years or less. We genuinely can't wait to build you the piece that will stay in your family for years to come!
