At James Babcock Inc. Electrical Contractors (JBI), we are dedicated to providing quality commercial electrical services to organizations throughout the state of Indiana and beyond. With a rich history spanning over six decades, we have built a reputation for integrity, timeliness, and a budget-conscious approach.

Our History

Our company was founded by James and Evelyn Babcock in Indianapolis in 1955. Today, we are still a family business, with a family that includes not just immediate family members but also our dedicated employee family. We take pride in our long-standing relationships with our clients and our commitment to excellence in every project we undertake.

Leadership

Our leadership team is comprised of experienced professionals who have been part of the JBI family for decades. Dave Babcock, our Chairman, joined JBI as a full-time employee in 1962 and earned his Master Electrical License in 1965. Daniel Babcock, our President, began his career as a commercial electrician and has risen through the ranks to lead our company. Bill Babcock, our Vice President, also started as a commercial electrician and has been an integral part of our leadership team.

Services Offered

At JBI, we offer a wide range of services to meet the needs of our clients. Our Electrical Contracting services include installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. Our Design + Build services allow us to work closely with clients to design and construct projects that meet their specific needs. Additionally, we provide Systems and Security services, including the installation and maintenance of security systems, fire alarms, and other essential systems for commercial properties.

Recent Projects and Awards

We are proud of our recent projects and the recognition we have received for our work. We were awarded the 2021 ABC Awards at both the Excellence and Merit levels. Our projects include a 70-acre site, 130,000 S.F. Carvana facility, which was an ABC Award of Excellence Winner, and the IFD's No. 3 in Fountain Square, which was an ABC Award of Merit Winner. We have also completed work at IUPUI, Elevate Office, and the Riverfront Taproom.

Safety and Training

Safety is a top priority at JBI. We provide ongoing on- and offsite safety training for our employees to ensure they are current with the best practices in the industry. Our commitment to safety has earned us recognition, including the 2021 Excellence in Safety award.
