Empowering Artists and DIYers through Screen Printing Services
At Ocelot Print Shop, we are dedicated to providing high-quality screen printing services and supporting the DIY and home-based screen printers in our community. Our story began in 2012, when two of our founders visited community print shops in other cities and were inspired to create a space that provided a greater amount of feedback, inspiration, and flow of ideas. After a year of planning, we opened our doors in June of 2013 with a grant of $1000 from the Awesome News Task Force. Since then, we have grown and changed in many ways, fulfilling our vision through hard work, trial and error, and hands-on experience.
Our Services
We offer a wide variety of custom screen printing services, from works on paper and other flat stock, such as posters, postcards, or business cards, to t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags, and more. We also print decals and fleet markings. Our screen services support our beloved Detroit DIY and small-scale screen printing community. Send us a design, and we can create a screen for you, so you don't have to set up a darkroom and washout booth at your house or workshop.
Rent a T-shirt Press
We offer a go-to solution for home-based printers and those who want to learn on their own but are not ready to invest money and space into a permanent shop in their home. Our press rental service allows you to print your own designs without the hassle of setting up and maintaining your own equipment.
Our Community
We are located in the heart of the Cass Corridor, surrounded by a strong history of fostering community-based grassroots organizations. Our building is owned by the Cass Corridor Neighborhood Development Corporation (CCNDC), which is deeply invested in the immediate community and its place in Detroit. We are neighbors with Back Alley Bikes, a Karate studio, and an Italian Deli. We believe that the spirit of creativity lives everywhere, and we are happy to support the work and fun of so many Detroiters.
Our Story
We have taught hundreds of students how to screen print through our Introduction to Screen Printing class, and have supported over 200 members to create beautiful work. We have made countless t-shirts, posters, business cards, invitations, and many other printed things. From shop profits, we have upgraded our equipment, and were granted a Kiva loan to buy a brand new press to increase our production. We still value ingenuity and reuse of old materials and creative use of resources. In 2015, we were honored to be a recipient of an NEIdeas award for small businesses.
