Cobalt Veterinary Clinic is rooted in a dedication to providing compassionate and comprehensive veterinary care to the pets of our community. Our journey began in 2002 when Drs. Jon and Christine Gustavson, both Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine graduates, answered the call of the East Coast and established themselves in Connecticut. They began working at Portland Veterinary Hospital, quickly becoming immersed in the lives of their patients and their families.

The town embraced the young veterinarians, and Drs. Jon and Christine found themselves wanting to remain a part of this community. In 2015, they seized the opportunity to purchase the hospital from Dr. Olson and Dr. Nunez, solidifying their commitment to serving the needs of pets and their people.

Our Story

Driven by a profound love for animals and a desire to make a difference in the lives of both pets and their owners, Drs. Jon and Christine have built a veterinary practice that prioritizes personalized care and unwavering attention. Their shared passion is reflected in the clinic's warm and welcoming atmosphere, where every pet is treated with the utmost kindness and respect.

Dr. Christine Gustavson, a California native who grew up surrounded by a menagerie of animals, brings a wealth of experience and a genuine connection with both large and small domesticated species. She earned her zoology degree at Northern Arizona University before pursuing her veterinary doctorate at Oklahoma State University, where she met Dr. Jon. After graduating, they embarked on their journey to Connecticut, where they established their veterinary practice and raised their three children, including a set of twins.
