Helping Families Honor and Remember

Colbert County Memorial Gardens, Inc. was established in 1958, with a vision to provide a serene and peaceful resting place for loved ones. For many years, the cemetery was owned and operated by Judge John Sockwell of Tuscumbia. In April 1973, Judge Sockwell sold the cemetery to Bob R. Love, John Martin, Jim Thomas, James Leigh, and H. M. (Marcell) Isbell. The property consists of 27 acres located at 700 Hwy 43 South in Tuscumbia, Alabama, with approximately 9 acres developed at this time.

Over the years, the cemetery has undergone significant developments. In 1975, it became the first lawn crypt garden installed in Alabama, setting a new standard for burial services in the region. Following this, a vault manufacturing facility was constructed, providing families with a wider range of burial options. Additional lawn crypt gardens were added, and all the streets in the cemetery were paved, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the property.

In 1990, the decision was made to expand the services offered by Colbert County Memorial Gardens, Inc. by purchasing property for the construction of a funeral home. Colbert Memorial Chapel was officially opened in June of 1992, offering families a comprehensive range of funeral services under one roof. Shortly after the opening of the funeral home, a crematory was added to the property behind the funeral home, providing families with an alternative to traditional burial.

To further enhance the convenience and accessibility of the property, a new street was added to connect the funeral home property to the existing cemetery property. Along this new street, Colbert Memorial Gardens introduced the "Circle of Love Mausoleum, " offering families a beautiful and serene place to lay their loved ones to rest.

Today, Colbert County Memorial Gardens, Inc. continues to provide a range of services designed to meet the needs of each family we serve. Our experienced funeral directors are dedicated to guiding families through the process of planning a funeral, ensuring that every detail reflects the life and legacy of their loved one. Whether you are seeking a traditional burial, cremation, or another form of memorialization, our staff is here to help you make the best decisions for your family.

At Colbert County Memorial Gardens, Inc., we believe that every life deserves to be celebrated and remembered. We are committed to providing the highest level of service to the families we serve, and we look forward to continuing our tradition of excellence in the years to come.
