Where quality meets passion: Growing with you, for generations!

Gritt's Midway Greenhouse is a family-owned and operated business that has been serving the tri-state area since 1944. We started as a small produce peddling operation and have since grown into a full production greenhouse operation, wholesaling plants and produce to four states. Our journey began with Tony Gritt, Jr., who constructed a small "hot house" to start seedlings for his outdoor produce production. As the demand for earlier planting increased, neighbors asked Mr. Gritt to grow vegetable plants for them as well, marking the birth of Gritt's Midway Greenhouse.

Over the years, we have expanded our offerings to include a wide variety of flowers, foliage plants, and even hydroponic vegetables. Our greenhouses now cover 7 acres, with an additional 2 1/2 acres dedicated to hydroponic vegetable production. We take pride in our commitment to quality and food safety, having received GHP/GAP certification in 2013. This certification ensures that we follow USDA food safety practices, which is audited and renewed annually.

Today, we offer a diverse range of products, including seasonal produce, specialty items, and a wide variety of plants for both indoor and outdoor spaces. Our products are sold throughout West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, and parts of Virginia. Whether you're looking for fresh produce, beautiful flowers, or unique plants, Gritt's Midway Greenhouse is your one-stop destination.

The Beginning

Gritt's Midway Greenhouse has a humble beginning that dates back to the early days of our founder, Tony Gritt, Jr. He started by constructing a small "hot house" to start seedlings for his outdoor produce production. This innovative approach allowed him to harvest earlier than other area farmers, which quickly gained popularity among his neighbors. They asked him to grow vegetable plants for them as well, marking the beginning of our greenhouse operation.

As the business grew, so did our offerings. We expanded into flower cultivation and eventually into the production of terrariums and dish gardens to meet the demand from local florists. This led to the development of our extensive foliage offerings, including specialty items desired by avid plant collectors. Today, we continue to innovate and expand our product line to meet the evolving needs of our customers.
