Excelling in Science, Art, and Service since 1978

Joshua B. Kardon + Company is a small, service-oriented structural engineering firm established in 1978. Our team, led by owner and principal engineer Joshua B. Kardon, Ph. D., S.E., provides structural engineering consultation, design, and construction review services to building owners, architects, and other private, public, and commercial clients. With licenses to practice in multiple states, we have extensive experience in designing and reviewing timber, concrete, steel, and masonry structures, including new single- and multi-family residences, commercial developments, vehicular and pedestrian bridges, schools, hospitals, retaining structures, foundations, remedial construction, structural renovations, remodels, and additions, and seismic upgrading of existing buildings.

Our Philosophy

At Joshua B. Kardon + Company, we believe that early involvement of the structural engineer results in better project outcomes for the owner, the architect, and the builder. We understand that architects know that structural engineering is only a portion of the work necessary for a successful project, and they can take responsibility for the structural engineering of a project. However, because most building projects are complex, even small residential remodel projects, architects and owners turn to engineers who practice structural engineering to provide their professional services. Our team strives to excel in science, art, and service, providing careful and competent consultation, investigation, and testimony to help resolve disputes involving construction defects, structural failures, and professional negligence.

Our Services

Our services include structural engineering consultation, design, and construction review, as well as litigation support and advice. We provide consulting services and support in engineering litigation matters so that you can present your case with confidence. Our team's expertise extends to designing and reviewing various structures, including timber, concrete, steel, and masonry structures, as well as providing expert witness services to help settle disputes where construction defects or an engineer's negligence is alleged.
