Unprofessionalism and Poor Customer Service
Several reviewers expressed frustration and disappointment with Asheville Eye's unprofessionalism and poor customer service. One reviewer was cancelled on the day of their interview without explanation, and despite multiple emails, received no response. Another reviewer had a horrible experience at the Asheville Hwy location, where the staff was unprofessional, inattentive, and monotone.
Long Wait Times
Long wait times were a common complaint among reviewers. One reviewer waited nearly 45 minutes for an eye test, and then another 25 minutes to see the doctor. Another reviewer spent nearly 2 hours at the office, with a total of less than 15 minutes spent with the doctor. Several reviewers felt that their time was not valued and that the office did not prioritize their patients.
Poor Communication
Poor communication was also a recurring theme. One reviewer was told they would have to pay for the eye test despite having already handed over their insurance information. Another reviewer was not informed about the results of their eye test and had to ask multiple times to get an answer.
Positive Experience
On a positive note, one reviewer had a great experience with Dr. Damien Macaluso and the surgical team, who were kind, efficient, and made them feel special.
Concerns with Quality of Care
Several reviewers expressed concerns about the quality of care at Asheville Eye. One reviewer felt that the doctor did not get their test numbers correct, and another reviewer received unusable glasses that they could not read with.
