Braun Eyecare

Braun Eyecare is one of the area's leading providers of vision care, offering services for people of all ages. Our full-service staff is dedicated to fitting you with the perfect glasses and contacts, and our on-site lens laboratory ensures that you receive your glasses as quickly as possible. We are also able to repair glasses on-site, providing added convenience for our patients.

In addition to our optical services, we provide emergency eye treatment for issues such as red eye, painful eyes, metal in the eye, and vision loss. Our doctors will fit you in as quickly as possible, no appointment necessary. We also diagnose and treat most eye diseases, and can refer you to a specialist for surgery if required.

Our History

Braun Eyecare was started by Dr. Erwin Braun in 1989. Dr. Braun spent the first part of his career in the U.S. Army, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1978. He then moved his family to Dalton, Georgia, where his wife, Teri, bought the Pearle Franchise for the Dalton area. Over the next ten years, Dr. Braun and Teri built up their practice at Pearle. In 1989, the Brauns ventured out on their own and started their namesake practice, Braun Eyecare Center.

Teri managed the optical business and Dr. Braun saw the patients. Dr. Braun, like most successful men, would give much of the credit to his wife and family. Teri is a licensed optician and worked with Dr. Braun over the last twenty years of his career. Dr. Bruce Johnson joined the practice in 1992, and Dr. Braun retired briefly in 2003, but returned part-time for the next year.

Dr. Davis joined in July of 2005 as an associate and progressed to become partners with Dr. Johnson. Dr. Gonzalez joined in 2017 as an associate and became a partner in the summer of 2019.

Our Doctors

*Dr. Bruce Johnson*

Dr. Johnson grew up in Athens, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia in Athens for his undergraduate work and obtained his Doctorate in Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry (honors graduate) in 1992. While attending the Southern College of Optometry, Dr. Johnson participated in SVOSH (student Volunteer Optometric Service to Humanity). As a member of SVOSH, Dr. Johnson went on a humanitarian trip with other students and doctors to provide eye examinations and glasses to those in Costa Rica.

After graduating, Dr. Johnson returned to Dalton, Georgia and has been providing eye care to the community ever since. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association.

*Dr. Davis*

Dr. Davis joined Braun Eyecare in 2005 as an associate and became a partner with Dr. Johnson in 2008. She received her Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 2005. She practices full-scope primary care optometry, including the treatment and management of ocular disease, specialty contact lens fits, and pre- and post-operative care. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association.

*Dr. Gonzalez*

Dr. Gonzalez joined Braun Eyecare in 2017 as an associate and became a partner in the summer of 2019. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico in 2012 and her Doctor of Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2016. She practices full-scope primary care optometry, including the treatment and management of ocular disease, specialty contact lens fits, and pre- and post-operative care. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Georgia Optometric Association.
