Killingworth Nursery School

Killingworth Nursery School is a non-profit, interdenominational, cooperative preschool that has been continuously teaching children for 70 years. We are locally run and operated at the Congregational Church in Killingworth. Our school is licensed by the State of Connecticut and is proud to be an approved Care4Kids Provider. We welcome all children at our school, encouraging them to expand on their interests while recognizing the uniqueness of each child. We strive to bring quality learning experiences to all children, guiding and interacting with the world around us. Our programs include the Terrific Tots Program and the Preschool Program, designed to meet the growing needs of each child from the age of two to kindergarten readiness.

Our Services

Our Terrific Tots Program is designed for children who are two years old or will be turning two during the session, accompanied by a parent, grandparent, or caregiver. This program provides a nurturing environment for young children to explore and learn through play. Our Preschool Program is geared towards children who are preparing for kindergarten. It offers a balance of fun, play, learning, and socializing to help them grow and develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Learning Environment

Every day at Killingworth Nursery School is filled with a variety of activities that allow children to explore and make learning fun. Our warm, caring teachers relate daily concepts and themes in a secure, stimulating nursery school environment. They encourage children to expand their interests, recognizing the uniqueness of each child and working to build their self-confidence. Our aim is to create a sense of fulfillment and joy in every child, making them confident and happy preschoolers who are ready to move to the next step in education.

Community Involvement

As a cooperative preschool, we depend on parent participation through various ways, such as providing needed resources for the classroom and volunteering to serve on one of the standing committees of the board. This community involvement strengthens our school and ensures that every child receives the best possible education and care.
