Our company was originally founded by Michael Q. Jones in 1975 and later incorporated in 1978. In 1981, Ron Woodall joined the company as a managing partner, and together, the pair built and expanded the firm's capabilities and project breadth. In the early days of the firm, the partners wore many hats: construction managers, commercial contractors, CFOs and real estate brokers. Their experience-both in the field and in the office-gave them a comprehensive understanding of the myriad of aspects that create investment, development and construction opportunities.

As the company matured, so did its recognition that it had greater capabilities to offer its stakeholders and clients. Through California Gold's experience advancing its own real estate portfolio, it realized that bringing projects online meant that they were often times required to run the gauntlet of regulatory entitlements. By 1988, the development division was born and offered to business owners and clients who had enterprises to expand, but lacked the desire or expertise to navigate the process of garnering governmental approvals.

We have completed over 500 projects, totaling over 5 million square feet of developed property.

Development

Our development division is dedicated to helping business owners and clients navigate the complex process of regulatory entitlements. We have extensive experience in securing necessary permits and approvals, allowing our clients to focus on their core business while we handle the development process. Our team works closely with local government agencies, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed efficiently and effectively.

Property Management

In addition to development and construction, we also offer property management services to our clients. Our experienced property managers are dedicated to ensuring that our properties are well-maintained and run smoothly. We handle all aspects of property management, including tenant relations, lease administration, financial reporting, and day-to-day operations. Our goal is to maximize the value of our clients' properties while minimizing costs and ensuring tenant satisfaction.

Projects

We have completed a wide variety of projects over the years, including single-tenant retail stores, shopping centers, medical facilities, and other commercial properties. One of our featured projects is the Tractor Supply Co. store in Rancho Murieta, California. This single-level structure spans 22,249 square feet with a large 17,866 square foot outdoor display yard, a 3,024 square foot greenhouse garden center, and a convenient pet wash station inside. The construction of this location commenced in August 2022 and culminated in the grand opening several months later.

In addition to this location in Rancho Murieta, we have developed and constructed multiple Tractor Supply Company stores throughout California and Nevada. Our team is proud of its long-standing track record of delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget.

Our leadership team is comprised of experienced professionals who are dedicated to delivering exceptional service to our clients. Our team includes:

  • Ron Woodall, Chairman: Ron has been a managing partner at California Gold since 1981 and has played a key role in the company's growth and success. He has extensive experience in all aspects of commercial real estate development and construction.
  • Scot Patterson, CEO: Scot has been with California Gold since 2001 and has been instrumental in expanding the company's project portfolio and client base. He has a deep understanding of the commercial real estate market and is skilled in project management and finance.
  • Mark Patterson, President: Mark joined California Gold in 2005 and has been responsible for overseeing project development and construction. He has extensive experience in project management and has successfully completed numerous projects for the company.
  • Steve Campbell, COO: Steve has been with California Gold since 2010 and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company. He has a strong background in construction management and has worked on numerous projects throughout his career.
  • Doug Kiel, CFO: Doug joined California Gold in 2015 and is responsible for the company's financial operations. He has extensive experience in financial management and has worked with numerous commercial real estate companies throughout his career.
