Our Doctor

Dr. Jon Bertoldo is the sole practitioner at Animal Mansion Veterinary Hospital. Unlike large corporate hospitals, Dr. Jon's private practice guarantees he will get to know your pet well. Dr. Bertoldo received his doctorate of veterinary medicine from Cornell University in 1994. He began his veterinary career in Upstate New York and moved to New Jersey where he practiced both large and small animal medicine before specializing in small animal care full-time, and has been doing so for the past 20 years. In 2008, Dr. Bertoldo opened his own practice in the historic Hainesburg Mansion in Columbia, NJ. In addition to veterinary medicine, Dr. Bertoldo's passions include photography, vintage cars, and spending time with his family. Dr. Bertoldo also currently serves on the Alumni Board at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine.

The History of the Building

The historic Hainesburg Mansion nestled in the Hainesburg valley was built in 1828 by architect Andrew Smith. In its backyard are the remnants of the former Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad lines which ran alongside the Paulinskill River and feeds into the Delaware River. It was sold to railroad tycoon Jacob M. Blair around 1843 and then acquired by Jacob Andress in 1885. Andress and his family made the mansion their home for many years. Since then, it has changed ownership many times, establishing itself as an inn, a restaurant, an ice cream parlor, even a speakeasy at one point in history. In 2008, Dr. Jon Bertoldo acquired the Mansion in an attempt to maintain its Victorian charm and make it a veterinary practice unlike any other. It is more than just a veterinary practice, it feels like home.

Specialized Services

• Laser Therapy: Contemporary Diowave Technology allows for a non-intrusive form of therapy for your pet. Laser therapy is used to reduce swelling and inflammation after surgery, reduce infection, and alleviate arthritis.
• Surgery: Dr. Bertoldo performs a wide variety of surgical procedures ranging from routine neutering to intestinal obstruction removal to select orthopedic surgeries. If there is a procedure that requires a board certified specialist, Dr. Bertoldo will refer out, however, most general surgeries are performed here at the hospital so you can trust your pet gets the immediate attention and best treatment they deserve should surgery be necessary.
• Radiology: Sometimes the answers aren't always on the surface. Our digital x-ray and ultrasound technology optimizes the diagnostic process, providing clear images to ensure accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
