Natural care for a balanced life
At Susan Dembo Acupuncture, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of care to our patients in Oyster Bay, NY, and the surrounding communities. Our licensed and board-certified acupuncturist, Susan Dembo, M.A., M.S., L.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM), has been committed to excellence for over seventeen years. Our goal is to create a relaxing and soothing environment where healing can blossom, and we take pride in offering acupuncture therapy that is tailored to meet the physical and emotional needs of each patient.
Our Services
Our practice specializes in a variety of treatments, including Japanese Acupuncture, Cupping, Gua Sha, and Moxibustion. We believe in the power of Chinese Medicine and its ability to alleviate a wide range of health imbalances by activating the body's natural self-healing ability. Acupuncture is a safe, natural, and effective way to help patients achieve optimum health and wellness. By using specific combinations of acupoints, we can reduce pain and swelling, strengthen the immune system, increase blood flow and microcirculation, balance the autonomic nervous system, relax muscles, and calm the mind.
About Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a holistic approach to health that dates back over 2,500 years. It is based on the concept that a vital energy, or "qi, " flows through the body along pathways called meridians. When the flow of qi is interrupted or becomes imbalanced, health problems can occur. By inserting thin needles into specific points along these meridians, we can restore balance to the flow of qi and promote healing.
Our Approach
At Susan Dembo Acupuncture, we believe in intertwining our training in Chinese Medicine with a deep understanding of biology to bring together an eclectic mix of perspectives on health and wellness. This approach bridges the gap between Eastern and Western medicine, allowing us to provide comprehensive care that addresses the whole person - body, mind, and spirit.
Our Facility
Our office is located in the historic hamlet of Oyster Bay, home of President Theodore Roosevelt. We have created a peaceful and inviting space that features two private treatment rooms with heated treatment tables, fluffy blankets, and soothing artwork. The calm atmosphere is enhanced by the soft aqua-colored walls, reminiscent of ocean-tumbled sea glass. We offer convenient street parking and a free municipal parking lot behind the building for your convenience.

What to Expect at Your First Visit
At your first visit, we will take the time to understand your health history, current symptoms, and treatment goals. We will then develop a personalized treatment plan that is tailored to meet your specific needs. During your treatment, you will lie on a heated treatment table in one of our private rooms, and Susan will insert thin needles into specific points along your body's meridians. The needles are left in place for a period of time, usually between 15 and 30 minutes, before being removed. Most people find the experience to be very relaxing, and many fall asleep during their treatment.
